People in several northern Minnesota counties have been getting text messages that are part of a scam, according to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.

The messages tell people that their account at the First National Bank of Walker has been compromised and gives a phone number to call. Beltrami County Emergency Communications Director Beryl Wernberg says that this is a scam, and the phone number should not be called. Wernberg also asks that people who received the fraudulent message NOT call law enforcement, as they have already been swamped with hundreds of calls about the issue.
